The intent of this page is to support High Speed Rail for the State of Wisconsin. It is this writer's opinion that high speed rail would create a brighter future for Rural Wisconsin. High Speed Rail would not only create railway jobs; it would open up so many possibilities. One can only imagine how many additional jobs and educational opportunities would be created in Rural Wisconsin - if travel time to the Twin Cities were less than an hour away. High speed rail from Milwaukee to Madison is the first step. Our nation currently enjoys an interstate highway system because of an earlier Republican’s foresight. President Eisenhower made Investment in America job number one. More than fifty years later we still benefit from Eisenhower’s wise investment. Maybe it is hard for someone for Walker to understand the lack of employment opportunities in Rural Wisconsin. I don't know. What I do know is that Governor Elect Walker was elected to represent all of Wisconsin - not just the big cities. While it may have been a neat political gimmick to oppose high speed rail during the election cycle, fantasy time is over. Wisconsin is one of the winners in the contest for Federal Rail Funds. Funding is a use it or lose it deal. 810 million dollars is a lot of money to give away! I wonder. Does Governor elect Walker have the backbone to revisit his campaign gimmick? Can he "man up" and invest in Wisconsin? We will just have to wait and see.
